Custom Tuning Now Available for Latest Gen L5P Duramax (E42 ECM)

HP Tuners is proud to offer the industry’s first custom tuning and diagnostics solution for the latest generation L5P Duramax platform, supporting the following models:

  • 2024-2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 6.6L L5P Duramax (Diesel)
  • 2024-2025 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 6.6L L5P Duramax (Diesel)

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you own a 2017-2023 Silverado/Sierra 2500/3500 6.6L L5P Duramax, you require the GM E41 ECM Service (L5P) instead. This service is only for 2024-2025 models (the latest generation L5P) with the E42 ECM.

In order to start tuning, your truck requires this one-time, send-in upgrade service to upgrade the E42 ECM for custom tuning using our VCM Suite software. Spare ECMs will NOT BE ACCEPTED, no exceptions. Only the original ECM from your vehicle is acceptable for this service. 

This means your E42 ECM must be removed from your truck and shipped to HP Tuners’ headquarters for servicing. This process takes 3-5 business days to complete (not including shipping).

Everything you need to tune your GM E42 ECM (L5P) vehicle with HP Tuners:

  • Purchase this upgrade service to upgrade your E42 ECM for tuning.
  • Download the latest version of VCM Suite BETA for free here.
  • Once upgraded, purchase (8) Universal Credits to license your upgraded ECM.
  • Make sure you have an MPVI3 interface.
    • Purchase a new MPVI3 here.

Note: Universal Credits for licensing are not included in the cost of any upgrade service or purchase. Credits must be purchased separately.

SERVICE NOTES:

  • Spare ECMs will NOT BE ACCEPTED, no exceptions. Only the original ECM from your vehicle is acceptable for this service.
  • ECMs with broken tabs will NOT be accepted for Upgrades.
  • Universal credits to license your ECM once upgraded is NOT included in this service. You must purchase credits separately.
  • Your upgraded E42 ECM can only be tuned via the OBDII port with an MPVI3 device, the latest version of VCM Suite BETA, and an internet connection.
  • The latest version of VCM Suite can be used to return to stock calibration and/or update to the latest stock calibration (you must have the stock file).
  • VCM Scanner, Dealer Diagnostic, and other diagnostic tools will continue to function normally.

 HOW IT WORKS: 

Step 1: Once you’ve confirmed your vehicle’s support, purchase this upgrade service. You must enter the VIN of your truck in order to add this service to your cart.

Step 2: After placing your order, see the “Shipping” tab for a shipping form and address. Fill out this form and place it in your shipping box. You will also receive an email immediately after placing your order with this shipping form and address.

Step 3: Remove your E42 ECM from your vehicle and safely package it. Place your completed shipping form in the box. Reminder: While the stock ECM is being serviced at HP Tuners, a spare ECM cannot be temporarily installed and relearned in the vehicle otherwise the stock (now upgraded) ECM that was sent in for service will no longer function in vehicle.

Step 4: Write your order number on the outside of the shipping box.

Step 5: Ship your ECM to HP Tuners using any carrier you prefer. The shipping address can be found on this page and in the email discussed in step 2. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

Step 6: HP Tuners will upgrade your ECM for tuning and diagnostics. Then, we’ll ship it back to you.

Step 7: Once you receive your upgraded ECM, install it back into your vehicle. License the E42 ECM for (8) Universal Credits (sold separately) and start tuning with your MPVI3 device and the latest version of VCM Suite BETA.

Please allow 3-5 business days (not including shipping times) per ECM that you send in for the upgrade process to be completed.

Any additional hardware ordered with this product will be shipped along with your ECM. To avoid any delays on other products, please create a separate order for those items.

NOTE: Customers are responsible for shipping costs when sending HP Tuners your ECM/PCM/TCM. The shipping charge at checkout only covers returning your control module after modification.

  • These ECM/PCM/TCM services are completed at the owner’s risk. HP Tuners will not be responsible for the vehicle, its powertrain, or electronics, nor how the control module is used, calibrated, and its functionality.
  • Due to the factory location of the PCMs in the vehicle, all PCMs will exhibit signs of weathering and wear, which is completely normal.
