2022 POWERSTROKE ECM SWAP PROCEDURE FOR CUSTOM TUNING
Requirements
- Dealer Level FDRS with VCM3, you need FORD EMPLOYEE CREDENTIALS or LOCKSMITH CREDENTIALS (We find it is best to make a friend at a Ford Dealership).
- Forscan BETA with the Extended License: Purchase and Download HERE
- J2534 Pass-through (NEXIQ USB LINK 3 or 2, SCANMATIC, OR ANY J2534 PASS THROUGH CAN WORK)
- TEAMVIEWER FULL CLIENT 64-BIT OR TEAMVIEWER FULL CLIENT 32-BIT
- TESTED ECM PART NUMBERS:

ECM SWAP PROCEDURE STEPS:
YOU MUST START WITH FORSCAN - FDRS IS ONLY USED FOR PATS RELEARN. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF THE KEYS TO THE TRUCK BEFORE YOU START.
FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS STEP BY STEP IN THIS EXACT ORDER!!!!!!
- START WITH ORIGINAL 2022 NC3A ECM
- START SESSION WITH FORSCAN
- GO TO CONFIGURATION AND PROGRAMMING
- SAVE THE AS BUILT INFO TO THE LAPTOP (SAVE ALL)
- EXIT AS BUILT
- GO TO SERVICE PROCEDURES
- GO TO PCM CHANGE FUEL INJECTOR CORRECTION FACTORS
- READ INJECTOR DATA OUT
- KEY OFF, LEAVING FORSCAN OPEN
- CONNECT 2020-2021 LC3A-12A650-MB ECM, AND KEY ON
- SAVE THE INJECTOR DATA, IT WILL ASK FOR CONFIRMATION, CLICK YES.
- SELECT PCM MODULE CONFIGURATION (AS BUILT FORMAT)
- LOAD THE AS BUILT FILE SAVED FROM ORIGINAL NC3A ECM
- WRITE THE AS BUILT FILE INTO THE LC3A ECM
- GO TO CONFIGURATION AND PROGRAMMING
- SELECT PCM MODULE FIRMWARE UPDATE
- SELECT ANY AVAILABLE OPERATING SYSTEM (THIS DOES NOT MATTER AS WE ARE CHANGING TO A 2022 OS).
- SELECT PART NUMBER AND SELECT “CUSTOM” UNDER “TO PROGRAM: ”
- YOU WILL SELECT VBF NC3A-14C204-PF IF YOU HAVE KEY START
- YOU WILL SELECT NC3A-14C204-DLA IF YOU HAVE PUSH BUTTON START
- IF THE SECONDARY BOOTLOADER IS NOT PROVIDED BY FORSCAN USE THE LC3A-14C273-CA VBF WE PROVIDE.
- AT THE BOTTOM OF FORSCAN YOU WILL SEE 3 OPTIONS: DOWNLOAD, TEST, AND PROGRAM. SELECT PROGRAM
- CLICK OK THROUGH EVERY PROMPT AND LET IT FLASH.
- GO TO CONFIGURATION AND PROGRAMMING
- PERFORM CENTRAL CONFIGURATION RELEARN - THIS IS CRITICAL TO UPDATING VIN TO NEW ECM
- CHECK CODES - ONLY CODE IN ECM SHOULD BE U- CODE FOR IMMOBILIZER - ANY OTHER CODES YOU HAVE TO RESTART THE PROCESS OR THE ECM IS BAD.
- CLOSE FORSCAN
- OPEN FDRS AND START A SESSION
- GO TO PATS FUNCTIONS FOR PCM AND PERFORM AN PARAMETER RESET. THE TRUCK SHOULD START AND RUN.
- YOU CAN NOW READ/WRITE THE ECM WITH AVTO KOMANDER OR TRASDATA.
